McTimoney manipulation is a gentle chiropractic technique which works to realign and balance the animal’s musculoskeletal system to restore health, movement and performance. Animals, like humans, can suffer from back pain caused by musculoskeletal conditions and injury. However, animals cannot tell us they are experiencing pain and a reluctance to perform or a change in behaviour is their only way of communicating to us that something is wrong.
A horse may become reluctant to jump or perform a particular dressage movement. Dogs may uncharacteristically show reluctance to go for a walk or refuse to go up and down steps, an everyday task that has never been an issue before. Particularly in horses, these changes are often misinterpreted for bad behaviour and disobedience, therefore it is important as owners that we recognise signs and symptoms at early onset.
Any animal can benefit from a McTimoney treatment, it can be beneficial as a preventative measure as well as a treatment for existing musculoskeletal conditions.
